Dr. Warren P. Howe
With a spirit of sadness, we together with the Howe family mourn the loss of our Board member and dear friend of our school, Dr. Warren P. Howe. Dr. Howe so graciously gave of his time, talent, and treasure to advance the mission and vision of Annunciation Catholic School. He not only served as a board member but also taught percussion to our scholars. Dr. Howe through the Marilyn Howe Memorial Science fund has helped to build our STREAM initiative and advance our Science Program.
Obituary
On the afternoon of June 4, 2022, Dr. Warren P. Howe passed away at the age of 80. Warren was born to Walter and Mary Agnes Howe in Washington, DC in 1942. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn. He is survived by his two children, Brigitte (Clay) Morgan, and Daniel Howe; his grandson, Jacob; his sister, Mary (Robert) Schnittger; and many nieces and nephews.
He held a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Philosophy, a Master of Arts degree in Government & Politics, a Master of Music degree in Applied Percussion, a Professional Diploma in Administration and Supervision, and a Doctor of Education in Administration and Policy.
He had a lengthy career as a Percussionist with the US Military Academy Band and as a teacher at high school and college levels in Music, Social Studies, Politics, and American Government. He served in the US Naval Air Reserve, the US Army National Guard, and the US Army.
He enjoyed open-water distance swimming, golf, hiking, and lacrosse coaching. In post-retirement, he researched and authored for publication the History of the US Military Academy Band.
Visitation followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on 22 June at the Church of the Little Flower, 5607 Massachusetts Ave, Bethesda, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marilyn Howe Memorial Science Program at the Annunciation Catholic School, 3825 Klingle Pl NW, Washington, DC 20016. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
